About Bas Bleu - Mission

Bas Bleu Theatre Company is dedicated to building community through the arts in Larimer County, Colorado. Founded in 1992, Bas Bleu is a 99-seat "salon" theatre, located in a historic building in Old Town, Fort Collins. It is modeled after the great 18th century European literary salons that fostered animated conversations about politics, art, theatre, music and works of literature.

Using the intimate format of a small theatre, where the audience becomes enveloped in the center of the action, Bas Bleu has presented a substantial number of thought-provoking plays, poetry and prose readings, concerts, improvisational comedy, children's programming, master classes and gallery exhibits. Since its inception we have produced, performed, exhibited or hosted over 420 events for a total of more than 900 performances serving more than 25,000 patrons and involving over 2,000 artists, performers, writers, designers and technicians. We have expanded our activities in many ways since those early days to meet our mission of providing excellence, diversity and vitality in the arts for Fort Collins and the Front Range region.
