Bas Bleu is delighted to welcome the virtuosic pedal steel player, John Widgren, to join Bas Bleu’s very own version of the Weimarband in the Rocky Mountain premiere production of “The Blue Flower” from Sept 24 – Oct 16.
Widgren, one of the original Blue Flower Weimarband members, has been bringing the spectacular twang to the “sturm ‘n twang” of this 21st century musical for over a decade, performing in major productions at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge and Off Broadway with Second Stage. He can be heard in Hollywood soundtracks for Andy Warhol, Astronaut Farmer, and Angelo My Love, has played with Patti Loveless, Harry Connick, Jr., Commander Cody, Archer/Park, Toby Keith, Kelli O’Hara and Martin Sexton, and performed as a guest instrumentalist with the Boston Pops, Mark Morris Dance Company, and on Broadway for Paul Simon’s The Capeman, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Always Patsy Cline, and Bugs Bunny on Broadway.
And he needs a car while he’s here. Can you help?
We found John a nice place to stay, and fellow pedal steel player Chris Kennison has generously loaned John a beautiful guitar, but we’re looking for someone who can lend us a car for John to use while he’s in town from Sept 16 to Oct 17.
Help us if you can to give John a taste of Fort Collins hospitality and some wheels – your donation would be much appreciated!
