Collins.
AN ILIAD is a new, highly acclaimed, stage adaptation of Homer’s classic tale of the Trojan War. The play opens on a group of refugees who are visited by a vagabond storyteller in a crumpled coat, carrying a battered suitcase and guitar. He seemingly is condemned to tell this ancient tale over and over, across the ages, until humanity overcomes its violent nature. The refugees quickly take up the characters and action of the story through theatricalized combat, dance, and music, freely incorporating references and images from more recent times, up to today’s headlines. Directed by Peter Anthony, this collision of the ancient and modern worlds creates a startling relevant and captivating theatrical experience.
