Set in 1940’s Calgary about how five very different women “wait out the war.” In this charming, funny, and touching drama, they find a way to survive by working together and accepting one another’s differences. Directed by internationally renowned Israeli-American playwright, director and actor, Ami Dayan. This warm, wise and winning drama by a leading Canadian playwright from the point of view five women left behind to wait and to work for their men during WW II. The tragedy of war is there, but also, a lot of humor and comradeship as five women of Calgary kept the home fires burning in spite of doubts, loneliness and pain. Each woman responds very differently to civilian life. It is a portrait of Canadian society in the 1940’s. Produced at New York’s Hudson Guild Theatre, it shows the walking wounded are not always at the front.
Dirt, A Terra Nova Expedition – by Laura Pritchett

The centerpiece of our 26th season will be DIRT! A TERRA NOVA EXPEDITION, a world premiere play by multiple award-winning (PEN USA Award, Milkweed National Fiction Prize) novelist Laura Pritchett. This newly commissioned play, an ambitious multi-sensory experience exploring themes of survival, soil science and environmental stewardship, is unlike anything we’ve ever produced, and will surely be the one of the most unique theatrical experiences of the season. Lowrey Moyer, director of this past season’s hit THE SNOW QUEEN, will direct.

Based on a real-life event, EQUUS is a psychological puzzle of a play exploring themes of religion, passion and belief centered around a psychiatrist who is confronted with a boy who has blinded six horses in a violent fit of rage. 1975 Tony award for Best Play.
